Arsene Wenger's side have made a superb start to their Champions League campaign and Willie Duncan is backing goals at both ends when Huub Stevens' side visit on Wednesday
Arsenal slumped to a shock 1-0 defeat against Norwich City at the weekend and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be hoping to avoid a repeat of that result and performance when his side play host to in-form German outfit Schalke in the Champions League on Tuesday.Arsenal go into the match as Group B leaders, having taken six points from their opening two fixtures and the Gunners are rated at an even money (2.0) chance with Bet365 to strengthen their position with victory over second-placed Schalke.
Huub Stevens’ side, though, will travel to London full of confidence having lost just one of their 12 fixtures so far this season. The Bundesliga side, currently unbeaten in six matches, are chalked up at 11/4 (3.75) with Bet365 to win on Wednesday. The same firm go 5/2 (3.50) that the match ends in a draw.
Arsenal may have failed to hit the target on Saturday but goals have not been especially hard to come by for the Gunners in recent weeks, having scored 13 goals in the four matches prior to Saturday’s slip.
Goals, too, have been a prominent feature of Schalke’s games this season with the Germans having netted at least twice in 11 of their 12 competitive fixtues this term, the only exception being a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Bayern Munich last month.
With that in mind, it seems inevitable that goals will be scored at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night and, subsequently, both teams to score at 4/7 (1.57) with Bet365 looks almost certain here while the 7/10 (1.70) quote from the same firm for three or more goals to be scored looks to be exquisite value.Klaas-Jan Huntelaar appears to be the biggest threat to Arsenal’s chances and the Dutch international striker can be backed at 4/1 (5.0) with Bet365 to score first.
A better bet, though, is for the Gunners to make a fast start and should Arsene Wenger’s side come racing out of the traps, with that in mind, a fired-up Lukas Podolski could cause havoc for the Schalke defence.
The German striker looks to be good value and should be backed at Bet365’s 5/1 (6.0) quote to grab the first goal of what looks likely to be a goal-laden encounter in north London.
