Canada - USA Betting Preview: Visitors should be victors in North American derby

Latest Barcelona-Sevilla Betting Preview: Back both teams to score at Camp Nou Previous

Jurgen Klinsmann's side hammered Scotland 5-1 last Saturday before losing 4-1 to Brazil but Willie Duncan is backing Team USA to step up to the plate against Stephen Hart's men

It has been a mixed week for Jurgen Klinsmann’s USA, but the coach will feel confident of finishing the week on a high when they make the short trip across the border to face neighbours Canada in Toronto on Sunday night.

The States demolished Scotland 5-1 last Saturday but were given a harsh reality check when they were humbled 4-1 by Brazil on Wednesday night.

However, the trip to face Stephen Hart’s Canada side this Saturday represents a significant step down in class from the might of Brazil, and USA should be confident of victory.

Indeed, Sportingbet chalk the visitors up as favourites at an attractive 21/20 (2.05) to grab a victory, while the Canadians are available at 11/5 (3.20) with the same firm to shock Team USA in Toronto this weekend. The draw is available at 23/10 (3.30).

Canada’s dreams of qualifying for World Cup 2014 are still alive having eased into the third qualifying round without losing a game in their group, but their fundamental weakness was exposed by a 3-1 defeat to European minnows Armenia on Friday.

USA have scored in their last six outings and the 11/10 (2.10) on offer from Sportingbet for Klinsmann’s men to score more than one goal against Canada this weekend represents outstanding value and is the one of the most attractive prices available in this match considering their goal glut against Scotland so recently.

Another hugely enticing price is the 3/1 (4.00) quote from Sportingbet for USA (-1) to beat their neighbours in the handicap market.

Another tempting option is the 7/4 (2.75) for America to lead at half-time against their inexperienced opponents which looks like a prime opportunity for punters to make a profit.

While local bragging rights will be at stake in this match, Jurgen Klinsmann has considerably more talent at his disposal than his Canadian counterpart and USA must be backed to record a victory here.
