thumbnail Hello,

Kenny Jackett's side came from behind to beat a second-string Hoops at Tallaght Stadium as part of their pre-season preparations

Wolverhampton Wanderers fielded two separate XIs as they defeated Shamrock Rovers in a pre-season friendly ahead of their 2014-15 Championship campaign.

The Hoops took the lead at Tallaght Stadium, but two goals in each half from the visitors saw them run out comfortable winners. Shamrock Rovers fielded a much-changed side, including a number of trialists, but took a surprise lead when Kirk Millar tapped home after Aaron McCarey failed to claim Ciaran Kilduff's corner.

However, the hosts' lead did not last long with Leon Clarke and Liam McAlinden netting two goals in quick succession to put Wolves ahead after just 24 minutes.

Despite changing their entire team at half-time, the League One champions continued to impress, and extended their advantage through Nouha Dicko, who pounced on a good cross from David Edwards. Wolves completed the win in stoppage time when Bakary Sako scored from the spot after a foul by Robert Bayly.

After beating Cheltenham Town in their opening pre-season friendly, Wolves continued their fine form with a win over Shamrock Rovers, and now travel the short distance to Dalymount Park for their friendly with Bohemians on Wednesday, July 16.
