New Everton signing Aiden McGeady says that he his "absolutely delighted" after securing a move to Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old was presented to the fans at half-time during Everton's 2-0 victory over Norwich City after completing a move from Russian outfit Spartak Moscow and said he was pleased to complete the transfer.

"I am absolutely delighted," McGeady told the club's official website. "It has sort of been a long time coming.

"There was talk over the summer that something might happen, but I am just delighted that it's done and dusted now."

McGeady was also keen to praise new boss Roberto Martinez, revealing that he was close to linking up with the 40-year-old while he was in charge of Wigan Athletic last season.

"I was close to joining the manager a year ago when he was at Wigan," explained the Republic of Ireland international. "He has obviously come here and proved a lot of people wrong.

"He plays football the right way and got a few good results along the way. I just want to play for a big club like this and I am relishing the challenge."

The former Celtic midfielder said that joining the Toffees was "a dream move" as it satisfies his desire to play in the English Premier League.

"I have said for a long time now that I wanted to try myself in the Premier League," he declared.

"Now I have a big chance at a great club, under a good manager. I couldn't be happier. It's a dream move really."
