thumbnail Hello,

The Republic of Ireland manager has turned down Bruce Arena's plea for Robbie Keane to return to his parent club after Friday's World Cup qualifier with Germany

Republic of Ireland manager Noel King has rejected a request from Los Angeles Galaxy manager Bruce Arean for the release of striker Robbie Keane.

Arena had enquired if the Boys in Green would allow Keane to return to Galaxy following the World Cup qualifier with Germany, but King is determined to keep Ireland's most capped player in his squad for Tuesday's clash with Kazakhstan.

The Football Association of Ireland confirmed King's decision, stating that the interim Ireland boss had "responded this afternoon to the manager of LA Galaxy,  Bruce Arena, to inform him that he has decided not to release Robbie Keane and trusts that he understands the position, having been an international manager himself."

The Republic of Ireland face Germany on October 11 at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, before taking on Kazakhstan in Dublin four days later.
