FAI aiming to bid to bring Euro 2020 to Dublin

The Football Association of Ireland are hoping to hold 2020 Uefa European Championship matches at the Aviva Stadium in the new-look competition
John Delaney has insisted that the Football Association of Ireland remain on target to bid for Dublin to be one of the Uefa Euro 2020 host cities.

The 2020 European Championship will be the first to be hosted in various cities and countries across Europe, and Delaney remains hopeful that the Aviva Stadium will be chosen as one of the many host stadiums. The Dublin venue hosted the Uefa Europa League in 2011, as well as the Carling Nations Cup in the same year.

Speaking on Friday, Delaney once again asserted his desire to bring the tournament to the Republic of Ireland, "The FAI Board remains fully committed to making a formal bid for Dublin as one of the UEFA EURO 2020 host cities," Delaney said. "The Association will be working hard in the coming months on mounting a competitive and attractive bid to build on the success of hosting the UEFA Europa League final."
