thumbnail Hello,

The Bit O' Red were paired with Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup semi-final and Baraclough is eagerly anticipating the clash

Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough has described his side's FAI Cup semi-final draw against Shamrock Rovers as a "mouth-watering tie."

The Bit O' Red defeated Derry City to progress to the semi-final and will take on Trevor Croly's side in the semi-final on Sunday October 6 at the Showgrounds.

"It is a mouth-watering tie," Baraclough told the club's official website. "We knew before the draw that there was no easy game and no matter which team we faced, it would be a difficult prospect. But a home draw is something we wanted and it's a game to really look forward to.

"It is also a tie that both sets of fans will be excited about. There will be huge interest and the incentive is there for everybody to see. It is a chance to reach a cup final at the Aviva Stadium and we will be doing all we can to get there.

"The games between the sides have been very close this season. It will be tight and it may take a moment of brilliant to divide the teams."

It will be the second time the two sides meet in the semi-final of a cup this season, after they were paired in the semi-final of the EA Sports Cup in August. Shamrock Rovers emerged victorious in that tie, triumphing by a score of 3-2 at Tallaght Stadium.

Elsewhere, Drogheda United were drawn against Louth rivals Dundalk in the other semi-final, which will also be contested on Sunday October 6. The games will be televised live on RTE.
