Sligo Rovers are set to host Shamrock Rovers in the semi-final of the FAI Ford Cup after defeating holders Derry City in the last eight of the tournament.

The Bit o' Red will take on the Setanta Sports Cup holders at the Showgrounds on Sunday, October 6. The game will be televised on RTE television as part of a double-header with the other semi-final, which sees Drogheda United take on Dundalk in a Louth derby.

Dundalk put five past Shelbourne on Friday night to reach the last four of the competition, but Drogheda United were unable to overcome Finn Harps at the first time of asking, and had to take on the Airtricity First Division side again on Monday night to progress.

Should Drogs beat their Louth rivals, they could face Shamrock Rovers for the third time in a cup final this season, as the sides met in the Setanta Sports Cup, and will play again in this weekend's EA Sports Cup final.
