The Saints boss is not taking any opposition lightly as he attempts to steer his side to league glory in the Airtricity Premier Division
Last year's league runners-up, Drogheda United have underperformed this season and currently find themselves eighth in the league table. The Saints, meanwhile, are at the summit of the division and have already defeated Mick Cooke's side twice in the league this season. However, Buckley is not taking the Setanta Sports Cup finalists for granted.
"Drogheda are always a tough side for any team to play against," he told the club's official website. "We've had two tight games with them this year, they reached the Setanta Cup final earlier in the year and like ourselves are in the latter stages of the cup.
"We know they'll be difficult opponents, so we'll be looking to get the performance right on Friday and hopefully then the result will come."
Shane McFaul is an injury concern for St Pat's as the player is suffering from a groin complaint, but new signing Daryl Kavanagh could be in line to make his debut after re-joining the club following his release from Cork City.
St Patrick's Athletic host Drogheda United at Richmond Park on Friday August 2. Kick off 19:45 BST.
