Reading striker Karl Sheppard has agreed to extend his loan spell with Shamrock Rovers until the end of the 2013 season.

The 22-year-old joined the Hoops on a six-month loan deal in January and has opted to remain at Tallaght Stadium for the rest of the campaign.

A former Everton trainee, Sheppard previously played for Shamrock Rovers in 2011, where he won the Airtricity Premier Division and Setanta Sports Cup before signing for English Championship club Reading in January 2012.

The Republic of Ireland youth international has scored two league goals in 15 appearances for Trevor Croly's side this season.
