Buckley: We will be aiming to improve against Bray Wanderers

The Saints are hoping to bounce back from their home defeat at the hands of Dundalk by taking all three points when they visit the Seagulls at the Carlisle Grounds
St Patrick's Athletic manager Liam Buckley is hoping that his side will respond to their home loss against Dundalk on Tuesday April 2 with a win over Bray Wanderers this Friday.

Goals from John Dillon and Kurtis Byrne ensured that Saints lost 2-1 to Stephen Kenny's side at Richmond Park, and Buckley has revealed that his side are 'aiming to improve' against Bray Wanderers in order to take three points from the Carlisle Grounds.

"We weren't happy with the way things ended up on Tuesday against Dundalk, so we'll all be aiming to improve on that this Friday against Bray," Buckley told the club's official website.

The former Sporting Fingal boss paid tribute to Bray Wanderers manager Pat Devlin, noting that the Seagulls possessed a 'very good side' which included the experience of former Republic of Ireland international Jason Byrne.

He said: "Pat [Devlin] has assembled a young squad together with some players who have huge potential. When you add in the few experienced heads to that that they have, the likes of Jason Byrne for example, you have a very good side.

"They're unbeaten in their two home games to date so we know the challenge they'll pose, but we'll be looking to take the points on offer on the night," concluded Buckley.

Meanwhile, Pat Devlin has indicated that he is expecting a 'tough' game against the Inchicore side on Friday.

"It's always tough against St Pat's," he told the club's official website. "They are a good side and will be difficult to beat"

St Pat's will be without the services of Shane McFaul, who is nursing a groin injury. Bray, meanwhile, will welcome back goalkeeper Darren Quigley, who returns from suspension, but injury doubts remain over Kevin O'Connor and Adam Mitchell.

Bray Wanderers host St Patrick's Athletic at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday, April 5. Kick off 19:45 BST.
