thumbnail Hello,

Longford Town, Dundalk and Bohemians progressed to the second round, as Waterford United's clash with Cobh Ramblers was called off because of the weather

Athlone Town 0-2 Longford Town
After their 5-0 opening-day victory over Salthill Devon in the league, Longford Town faced fellow First Division side Athlone Town in the cup, and came away with a 2-0 victory.

A Garvan Broughall own goal gave the visitors the lead after 22 minutes, putting the ball past Craig Sexton. The Athlone keeper was beaten again in the second half when Josh O'Hanlon doubled Longford's lead.

Bohemians 3-2 UCD
In a repeat of Friday evening's Airtricity Premier Division fixture in which Bohemians finished 2-1 winners, the two sides played out an exciting game at Dalymount Park, with Bohs needing extra time to progress

A lively opening saw UCD clear the ball off the line from a Stephen Paisley header before Dinny Corcoran put the Students ahead on 35 minutes after some unselfish play from Gary Burke. Just before half time Bohs were awarded a penalty for a foul by Hugh Douglas, but Mark McGinley got across well to save Shane Murray's spot kick.

Dinny Corcoran made no mistake from the spot six minutes after the interval, before Bohs mounted a comeback. Dave Scully scored on 56 minutes to begin a nervous spell for UCD, with the Students finally conceding on the stroke of full time when Karl Moore curled in a free-kick.

With the match set to go to penalties, Bohemians won one in the second half of extra time. Mark McGinley fouled Paisley, but despite saving a second spot kick, could not keep out Chris Lyons' effort from the rebound.
Dundalk 1-0 Shelbourne
A late goal from substitute Kurtis Byrne sent Dundalk into the second round at a snowy Oriel Park.
