The FAI has announced that the Boys in Green will take on Georgia in a 'Three' international friendly ahead of World Cup qualifier against Faroe Islands in June

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has announced that the Republic of Ireland will play Georgia in an international friendly on Sunday, June 2.

The game will kick off at 17.30 BST, after the FAI Junior Cup final, which, for the first time in its history, is to be played at the Aviva Stadium. Holders of tickets to the Georgia friendly will be automatically entitled entry to the Junior Cup final, which is set to kick off at 13.30 BST.

Speaking about the announcement, the president of the FAI Junior Council Paddy, McGrath said: "The June 2 final will be a wonderful day for everyone involved in the Junior game.

"The clubs which make it to Aviva Stadium will savour the day for a long time to come and we are very grateful to Aviva and Umbro who have helped to make it possible.

"I would also like to thank the FAI for combining the final with the 'Three' international friendly against Georgia which will enhance the occasion for everyone."

Giovanni Trapattoni's Boys in Green will play a friendly against England at Wembley on Wednesday, May 29 before welcoming Georgia to Dublin on June 2.

They will then take on Faroe Islands in Dublin in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, June 7.
