Sligo Rovers boss Ian Baraclough hails 'more rounded' squad

The Bit O'Red tactician believes that he has assembled a more rounded squad as his team begin the defence of their Airtricity Premier Division title
Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough has revealed that he is happy with the squad that he has assembled ahead of the 2013 Airtricity League season.

The Bit O'Red defeated Glentoran 5-0 in their first competitive game of the season in the first leg of the Setanta Sports Cup quarter final with new signings Anthony Elding and Evan McMillan among the goalscorers.

New signing Kieran Djilali was unveiled to supporters at the Showgrounds during the game against Glentoran and as they begin the defence of their league title against Derry City on March 8 and Baraclough is content that Sligo Rovers have a 'more rounded' squad of players in 2013.

"I'm pleased to get the business done. That's me right and happy now," Baraclough told the club's official website.

He continued: "[Kieran Djilali] joins in at the right times and he is an exciting player. The people who thought we were lacking something when Romauld Boco went to England, I think we've brought someone in who is potentially better.

"He is a team player and knows what the squad is all about how it is very close knit and there are no superstars.

"I look at it now and I'm excited that we're a more rounded squad. I'm looking forward to the season," added Baraclough.

League holders Sligo Rovers face FAI Cup winners Derry City at the Brandywell in the opening game of the 2013 Airtricity Premier Division on March 8.
