thumbnail Hello,

David McMillan scored the only goal of the game to see the Dublin University retain the trophy

UCD lifted the Collingwood Cup for the fifth time in seven years with a 1-0 victory over UCC at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.

The Dublin side retained the Irish Universities Football Union Cup thanks to a second-half strike from David McMillan, after wins over Immaculate College Limerick and Jordanstown on their path to the final.

McMillan gave UCD the lead in the 70th minute, capitalising on some poor Cork defending to beat Michael Dorgan. The striker should have double the score near the end of the game, but saw his penalty kick sail over the bar after a handball by Andrew Neville in the area.

Senior UCD midfielder was instrumental in the Students' cup-winning campaign, and was once again a star performer in the final, earning him the Player of the Tournament Trophy.
