The Republic of Ireland international is beginning talks about a new contract with the Baggies after expressing his happiness at the HawthornsWest Bromich Albion striker Shane Long is in the process of negotiating a new contract at the Hawthorns, according to Baggies boss Steve Clark.
The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international recently revealed that he was happy at the club and that he had no intentions of leaving at the end of the season.
"So far as I know Shane's advisors have spoken to Richard Garlick [West Brom's new sporting and technical director] about possibly a new contract," said Clark ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday, March 2.
"It is great to hear that Shane is happy at Albion," he added. "It is good for us. Shane has been great all season right from the first game against Liverpool when he was outstanding."
Meanwhile, Long has praised Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, hailing the proven ability of his former Reading team-mate's.
"He's a brilliant footballer," Long told reporters. "I have seen him train every day. I think he deserves his chance at Wolves because he's done a lot for them in the past when they were struggling over there.
"There is not a better player you could call on. He's done it for Ireland and Wolves. If he can get back in the starting 11, they will appreciate how much they have missed him."
