A double from Aiden O'Brien and another strike from Anthony Forde helped Noel King's side to a win over the Dutch
Millwall's Aiden O'Brien helped himself to a double on debut before Wolves' Anthony Forde completed the scoring with Ireland's third from the penalty spot.
Noel King's side took the lead after just 10 minute when Anthony Forde crossed for Aiden O'Brien, who snuck in at the back post to squeeze the ball into the bottom corner. The Netherlands were on top for large parts of the first half, but went in two goals down at the break after Forde and captain Shane Duffy teamed up to gift O'Brien a second goal.
Both managers made numerous changes at half-time, which hindered any chance the Dutch had of getting back into the tie. A foul on Forde inside the area just before the hour mark gave Ireland a penalty and sealed victory for the Boys in Green. O'Brien was receiving treatment on an injury, so Forde stepped up to slot home the spot kick.
King's side will play another friendly in March, meeting Portugal at Turner's Cross, giving him another chance to assess his squad before Euro 2015 qualification begins on August 14th. Ireland will meet Germany, Romania, Montenegro, and the Faroe Islands in Group Six.
