The former Republic of Ireland international has called the current national boss a clown on the social media site after being repeatedly overlooked for Irish squads
Harte has not played for the Boys in Green since 2007, having made 63 appearances under Trapattoni's predecessors. In 2011, after a good run of form which helped Reading gain promotion to the Premier League, Harte claimed that the Ireland management team didn't know that he was eligible.
"I was speaking to a player recently and he said he spoke to the manager and the assistant manager and they said they didn't even know that I was Irish, so obviously they haven't done their homework," Harte told the Irish Independent two years ago, before criticising Trapattoni for choosing English-born players such as Simon Cox.
At the time, Giovanni Trapattoni responded to Harte's outburst, telling reporters "Harte? We know Harte. [Stephen] Ward for me now is better. He can improve. Harte is 33."
However, in a repeat of his original tirade, Harte posted the following on his official Twitter account on Tuesday morning: "To all the people asking if I have retired from international football.no I haven't trap didn't even know I was Irish #whataclown"
