The Bit O'Red captain has opted to remain at the Showgrounds for the 2013 season and believes that the club can challenge for league honours once again
The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the Bit O' Red in 2007, has gone on to make just under 200 appearances for the club, and captained the side to league glory in 2012.
Speaking to sligorovers.com, the Ventre revealed that it was 'a relief' to have his future tied up at the Showgrounds.
He said: "We have a title to try and defend now and I’m delighted to be secure my future with Sligo Rovers. It is nice to put it to bed and a relief.
"It took some time to get everything sorted and I can't wait now to concentrate on working hard and trying to become league champions again."
He added: "It was a great honour to achieve what we did last season, and so much more as captain. That is something we can hopefully strive for again and I think we'll all be driven to go for it."
