The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has announced the death of Sister Romilde Trapattoni, the sister of Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni.
Aged 81, Sister Romilde had been suffering from a long-term illness and passed away in the early hours of Monday morning.
A statement from the FAI reads: "The FAI offers its sincere condolences to Giovanni and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time. Ar deis Dé go raibh a hanam."
The Italian coach was due to hold a press conference in Dublin today, Monday January 21, to announce his squad for the forthcoming friendly international against Poland on February 6.
