thumbnail Hello,

James McCarthy, Kevin Doyle, and Keith Andrews have been nominated for the Senior International Player of the Year Award at the 23rd ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards

Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy looks set to be the big winner at the 23rd ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards after being nominated in both the Senior International Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year categories.

McCarthy will go up against Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Kevin Doyle and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Keith Andrews in the senior category, while Robbie Brady and Seamus Coleman are his rivals for the Young Player of the Year Award.

The Three International Goal of the Year nominees feature two newcomers to the Republic of Ireland setup with Marc Wilson's strike against the Faroe Islands, Robbie Brady's debut goal against Oman, and Kevin Doyle's late winner in Kazakhstan all battling it out for the coveted award, which was won by Darron Gibson last year.

The nominees were chosen by members of the Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland, who selected Jason McGuinness, Mark Quigley, and Danny Ventre as the three candidates for Airtricity League Player of the Year

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday, 3rd February, broadcast live from Donnybrook on RTÉ Two at 8.00 p.m.
