The former Coventry City centre back is hoping that he can earn a place in the senior Ireland squad, with Trapattoni set to name his squad for the Poland friendly next week
The Boys in Green boss was spotted at the Rams' recent fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion where it is believed that he was casting his eye over the progress of a number of players, including Keogh.
And the 26-year-old centre back, who has been capped at under-21 level by Ireland, is hopeful that he can impress the Italian and earn a call-up to the senior squad.
"It is flattering to hear [Giovanni Trapattoni] was at the game. There are a few Irish at Derby so that will only mean that we will be watched more," Keogh told the Irish Sun.
"Don [Givens] was manager when I was in the under-21s so I did speak to him and told him how much I was hoping for an opportunity.
"I know he’s been to watch me quite a bit when I was at Coventry because we had Keiren Westwood. But I’ve been watched a lot more at Derby, and now Trapattoni has come to watch as well.
"Hopefully, I’ve impressed them and can get a chance," he said.
Giovanni Trapattoni is set to name his Ireland squad for the forthcoming friendly against Poland on February 6.
