Centre back Mick Leahy, 23, is the captain of the team, while 21-year-old David O'Connor also plays in the heart of defence. Speaking to the club's official website, Students boss Martin Russell expressed his pleasure at securing the services of the defensive duo.
"I'm very happy to have the two lads for next season," he said. "They have got better and better each season since they arrived at the club from Belvedere, and they will be looking to build on all of their good work to date and continue their progress."
Mick Leahy, 23, is the club captain and he revealed that playing for UCD was something that he 'could not give up'.
He said: "The chance to continue my development and improve as a player, working under an excellent manager who wants us to play the game in the right way was something I could not give up.
"Also, the club provides me with a national stage to play on every week while I'm also working towards completing my Masters degree in Business this year," added the defender.
