The Students have re-signed four players ahead of the new 2013 season and manager Martin Russell is confident that they can demonstrate their abilities on the national stageAirtricity Premier Division side UCD have announced the re-signing of four players ahead of the forthcoming 2013 season.
The Students have tied down Hugh Douglas, James Kavanagh, Sean Russell and Dean Clarke and boss Martin Russell says that their commitment to the club is 'great'.
"It's great that these lads see UCD AFC still playing a major part in their continuing development," he told the club's official website.
"The club can boast a proud reputation of giving young players valuable playing experience, I am sure this group can use this platform to their advantage and I think we will see great progression among some of our young players again this season," added Russell.
All four players re-signing for the club played for the UCD under 19 team in 2011 and made their breakthrough to the senior team during the 2012 campaign.
Meanwhile, manager of the PFAI squad taking part in the FIFPro tournament in Olso, Pat Scully, is hopeful that the Irish players can demonstrate their ability and earn a contract.
"Obviously it would be nice if we were to win the tournament," Scully told the Irish Times. "But I think the important thing is that we are professional, produce a couple of performances and ensure that a few of the lads show what they can do."
