The veteran shot-stopper has admitted his pleasure at aiding Aston Villa's cause in their 2-1 FA Cup victory over Ipswich Town on SaturdayShay Given has said that he is happy to have made a contribution to Aston Villa's 2-1 FA Cup Third Round victory over Ipswich Town at Villa Park on Saturday January 5.
Paul Lambert's side went 1-0 down when Michael Chopra scored for the Tractor Boys on 31 minutes, but equalised through Darren Bent on 46 minutes, before Andreas Weimann snatched the winner with 10 minutes to go.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Villa boss Paul Lambert praised the 36-year-old goalkeeper for his 'outstanding' display, and Given is happy that his saves proved pivotal in the fixture.
"The most important thing for me is the team and getting the result," he told avfc.co.uk. "But when called upon today, I had to make a couple of saves and thankfully I made them.
"I think the [save] in the second half was probably the best one and a couple of minutes later, we went and got the second goal," added the former Manchester City custodian.
The draw for the Fourth round of the FA Cup will take place on Sunday January 6.
