The Tigers boss hopes to tie up a deal for midfielder David Meyler as well as extend the loan spell of Manchester United winger Robbie Brady until the end of the seasonHull City are on the verge of completing the signing of Sunderland midfielder David Meyler, while Tigers boss Steve Bruce is also hopeful of extending the loan spell of Manchester United winger Robbie Brady until the end of the season.
The Irish duo have been on loan at the KC Stadium and Bruce is keen to keep a hold of the players. Speaking after the opening of the transfer window, Bruce praised the impact of the 23-year-old former Cork City midfielder Meyler.
"We've agreed a deal with Sunderland and now we'll just try and get the personal terms sorted with the player over the next 24 to 48 hours," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail.
"He's done very well for us and I've said all along that it was imperative that we get our loan players tied up. We're doing our utmost to do that. It's a good sum of money and fair play to the owners again."
He continued: "He's given us something different since he's come into the team. He gives us energy and drive that complements the good footballers we've got.
"He can only get better as well. His career has been hampered by a knee injury and he'll get better the more he plays," concluded Bruce
Meanwhile, Meyler has said that he has 'loved' his time with the Championship club, where he has been reunited for former boss Steve Bruce.
He said: "It's a great place to be and I've loved being here. Hopefully, we can sort something out."
