Hull City manager Steve Bruce has praised the mentality of David Meyler after the on-loan Sunderland midfielder scored in the Tigers' 2-1 victory over Watford at the weekend.
Bruce handed Meyler his senior debut for Sunderland during his time as manager of the Black Cats and he revealed his delight for the Republic of Ireland international, noting that he was happy that the former Cork City star had overcome injury problems to show his ability.
"I’ve had the pleasure of working with David now twice," Bruce told reporters after the victory over Watford. "And if every footballer had that kid’s mentality and enthusiasm there wouldn’t be a bad word said about any footballer."
He continued: "He’s a delight to work with. He’s not blessed with natural, wonderful ability but he’s got a heart as big as himself and I’m delighted for him after two years out with bad knee injuries he’s come here and shown what a good player he is.
"He’s delighted. His dad has made the trip and he’s done very, very well," added the Hull City boss.
Sunderland midfielder David Meyler is currently on loan at the KC Stadium until January 1 2013.
