Shamrock Rovers have confirmed that they have completed the signing of centre back Derek Foran from Dundalk.
The 23-year-old defender had previously played for Sligo Rovers and St Patrick's Athletic before joining Dundalk in 2012. However, he has now agreed to join the Hoops for the 2013 season.
Speaking about his move, Foran said that he was happy to have joined 'the biggest club in the country'. "I’m delighted to have joined Shamrock Rovers," he told the club's official website. "When you get a call asking you to join the biggest club in the country, there is nothing to think about."
He added: "As soon as Trevor rang me I knew this is where I wanted to be. Trevor is putting together a great squad. I met them yesterday and the professionalism amongst the players is great. I’m really looking forward to the new season now."
Meanwhile, Cork City have announced that 29-year-old defender Kevin Murray has agreed to sign a new contract with the club and manager Tommy Dunne expects more players to follow suit.
"We are continuing talks with members of last year’s squad. And I would expect progress in terms of more of them re-signing in the coming days," Dunne told corkcityfc.net.
