Sligo Rovers have confirmed the signing of former Republic of Ireland under-21 international Aaron Greene ahead of the forthcoming 2013 season.
The 22-year-old had been out-of-contract after being released by Shamrock Rovers and has agreed to join the Airtricity Premier Division champions. Speaking to sligorovers.com, Greene revealed that he 'jumped at' the opportunity to re-join his former club.
He said: "It is fantastic to have to the opportunity to link up with the league champions and my former team-mates, it was something I jumped at and an easy decision for me to make.
"I look forward to contributing to the team's efforts next year. As well as my regard for the club, the professionalism and approach of Ian Baraclough was an important factor for me and I can’t wait to get down to work in the new season."
Sligo Rovers boss Ian Baraclough said that he was happy with the signing and said that Greene represents a 'great addition' to his squad.
"It is a pleasing signing and a great addition to the squad," Baraclough told the club's official website. "Aaron brings a lot of quality and despite being only 22-years-old, he has considerable experience already and a determination to develop his career with Sligo Rovers.
He added: "We are working diligently and patiently to build the squad with players that can improve us and Aaron’s capture is a big boost."
