The Drogs have signed former Hoops striker Gary O'Neill as well as securing the signatures of a number of key players ahead of the new season

Drogheda United have secured the signature of former Shamrock Rovers striker Gary O'Neill, the club has confirmed.

O'Neill, 30, is a former Shelbourne and St Patrick's Athletic striker and played for Shamrock Rovers between 2011 and 2012 before agreeing to join up with Mick Cooke's side for the 2013 season.

The Airtricity Premier Division runners-up have also confirmed that a host of players have agreed to re-sign for the club for 2013, with Gabriel Sava, Derek Prendergast, Brian Gannon and Declan O'Brien agreeing terms.

Midfielder Gavin Brennan, Steven Quigley, Eric Foley, Philip Hand, Michael Schlingermann and Cathal Brady have also opted to re-join the League of Ireland Cup winners.
