Villa boss Paul Lambert has reportedly rejected an offer from Tigers boss Steve Bruce to take the former Ireland international on loan for a month
The 36-year-old former Republic of Ireland international has been dislodged by American international Brad Guzan as Villa's number one goalkeeper this season and according to The Telegraph, Tigers boss Steve Bruce offered to take Given on loan for a month.
However, Lambert is keen for the former Newcastle and Manchester City shot-stopper to remain at Villa Park, saying that he had 'two excellent goalkeepers' and noting that 'injuries can happen' in the game.
"If you're a goalkeeper, there's only one place for you and another guy to compete for," Lambert told reporters. "But you're never too far from being back in."
He added: "Injuries can happen. This football club’s got two excellent goalkeepers."
