Derry City have completed the signing of winger Paddy Kavanagh from Shelbourne, the club has confirmed.
The 26-year-old midfielder has had spells with UCD and Bray Wanderers as well as spending time at Shamrock Rovers, where he won two league titles and the Setanta Cup, and he now joins the Candystripes for 2013 after spending a season at Tolka Park.
Speaking to the Londonderry Sentinel about his move, Kavanagh revealed that he joined the Brandywell club because he wanted to win trophies.
"That’s why I’m here," he said. "I want to win things. Derry showed last year they were able to win the cup, why not win the league next year?
"That’s where my ambition lies. I’m not coming up here for the good of my health, I have won a league and I have won a Setanta Cup with [Shamrock] Rovers and I want to win the league again."
Kavanagh joins defender Simon Madden in committing to the FAI Cup winners for the forthcoming 2013 season.
