Shamrock Rovers announce two more signings
The Hoops have added to their squad ahead of the 2013 with the signing of Mark Quigley from Sligo Rovers and Sean O'Connor from St Patrick's Athletic
Shamrock Rovers have announced the signing of Mark Quigley and Sean O'Connor with the duo each agreeing to sign a two-year deal with the Hoops ahead of the 2013 season.PFAI Player of the Year Mark Quigley returns to Tallaght Stadium from league champions Sligo Rovers and while admitting that it was 'hard' to leave the Bit O' Red, he said that it was 'unbelievable' to be back at the club where he began his League of Ireland career.
"It’s unbelievable to be back at Shamrock Rovers," Quigley told shamrockrovers.ie. "I started my career in the league here. This is a massive club and I’ve come here to win the league with Rovers."
He added: "It’s hard for any player to leave the current champions, and everyone at Sligo was great to me, but this is a new chapter now and I’m going to knuckle down and do well here."
Sean O'Connor, meanwhile, re-joins the club from FAI Cup finalists St Patrick's Athletic, after enjoying a spell with the Tallaght club from 2008 to 2010.
The 29-year-old said that he was 'delighted' to make a return to Shamrock Rovers and said that the opportunity to work with newly instated Hoops Trevor Croly swayed his decision.
He said: "I’m delighted to have signed, I think the club is going to be very competitive next year and I think it will be a good place to be.
"It was a hard decision to make as I had a good season with Pat’s, but when Trevor [Croly] said he wanted to talk to me, I was interested to hear what he had to say.
"This is the only club I have won something with and I want to do that again," said O'Connor.
