thumbnail Hello,

The former Shamrock Rovers boss has not won a game during his time as manager of the Northern Ireland team and is hoping to pick up a result tonight against Azerbaijan

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill is hoping to secure his first win since taking over at Windsor Park when his side take on Azerbaijan this evening, Wednesday November 14.

The former Shamrock Rovers boss has yet to win a game since taking over as manager in December 2011 and yesterday he revealed his desperation to pick up his first win.

"It's time for us to put three points on the board. The players know that and I know that," he told reporters. "I'm desperate to get my first win as manager and to get the first win with this group of players."

He added: "The players can move on very quickly, they go back to their clubs and refocus so it's probably the manager that carries a bad result around longer; I don't have another game to get it out of my system.

"It's hugely important that we start winning games now. We have a four-month break after this game and you want to go into that break on the back of a positive result and a positive performance. If we don't it will be a long three months for me," concluded O'Neill.

Northern Ireland welcome Azerbaijan to Windsor Park in a World Cup qualification fixture tonight, Wednesday November 14.
