The Black Cats midfielder has opted to join the Tigers on loan until January, where he will join up with his former manager Steve Bruce in the hope of playing first team football

Sunderland midfielder David Meyler has agreed to join Championship side Hull City on a short term loan deal that will see him remain at the KC Stadium until January 2013.

The former Cork City midfielder said that he was 'delighted' with the move, which sees him join up with former manager, Steve Bruce.

A Republic of Ireland international, Meyler has struggled to nail down a first team place at the Stadium of Light and revealed that a loan move 'would be the best thing' for his development.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he told hullcityafc.net, “I spoke to Martin O’Neill and we both agreed that coming to Hull to get some games under my belt would be the best thing for me.

“Obviously I haven’t played a full 90 minutes for Sunderland in the league this season. I’ve only played 20 minutes here and there apart from once in the Capital One Cup tie against MK Dons in September.

“But, now I’m here, I’m just looking forward to playing football. I’m only 23-years-of-age. I want to continue improving and developing my game and that’s what I’m here to do,” he added.
