Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni handed injury blow as Stoke City confirm Marc Wilson leg break

The Potters midfielder has suffered a broken fibula and will be out of action 'for a while' according to boss Tony Pulis
Stoke City have confirmed that midfielder Marc Wilson will 'be out for a while' after he sustained a broken fibula during the 0-0 draw with Sunderland on Saturday October 27.

After committing to a seemingly innocuous challenge, the Republic of Ireland international had to be stretchered off during the game against the Black Cats at the Britannia Stadium.

Wilson was immediately rushed to hospital after the incident and revealed the news on his Twitter account, following x-rays.

"Marc will be out for a while," Potters boss Tony Pulis confirmed yesterday, before adding that he was unsure as to the approximate length of his layover.

The news also comes as a blow to Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni, who is expected to name his squad for the upcoming friendly international against Greece which takes place on November 14.
