PREMIER LEAGUE

Reading striker Noel Hunt made it two from two as he started and scored for the second successive weekend. Hunt volleyed home the Royals' second goal in a 2-2 draw against Swansea City. Midfielder Jay Tabb made his first Premier League start, while defender Alex Pearce had to watch from the bench.

Seamus Coleman was in fine form once again, playing right-back and linking up with Kevin Mirrallas down the line for Everton. The Donegal man put in a great block right at the end to stop Wigan snatching a late winner in the 2-2 draw.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Andy Reid scored the only goal as Nottingham Forest beat Peterborough 1-0 to continue his good start to the season, and no doubt inspire calls for his return to the Ireland fold. Reid scored from the edge of the area after a decent solo run to give Forest their first away win of the 2012-13 Championship campaign.

Crystal Palace and Burnley played out a seven-goal thriller at Selhurst Park, with Palace coming from 2-0 down to win. Chris McCann opened the scoring for the visitors, but Damien Delaney also found the net as Palace overcame the deficit to climb to fourth.
LEAGUE ONE

Paddy Madden marked his first start for Yeovil with two goals in a 3-1 win over Colchester United. The former Bohemians and Shelbourne striker is on a one-month loan from Carlisle United, but after leading the Glovers to their first win in six games, manager Gary Johnson may look to extend the deal.

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Darren Potter scored the equaliser as Milton Keynes Dons came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Portsmouth, netting from close range for his second goal of the season.

Ireland under-21 international James Collins scored his first league goal for Swindon Town in their 1-0 away win over Bury. The striker had scored a hat-trick in the League Cup against Stoke, but took 11 games to find the net in the league, chipping Trevor Carson from outside the box.

LEAGUE TWO

Defender Gary Doherty once again showed his scoring prowess, heading in the opener in Wycombe Wanderers' 2-1 win over Torquay United. The 32-year-old Donegal defender adds international experience to the Chairboys, having played 34 times for Ireland, and was handed the captain's armband at the start of the season by manager Gary Waddock. Gareth Ainsworth is now in charge at Adams Park, but Doherty has retained his position at club captain, and guided them to their second win of the season on Saturday.

Michael Spillane scored his fourth league goal of the season for Dagenham and Redbridge, helping them to a 4-3 win over Bradford, and move three points clear of relegation.

SCOTLAND

Eoin Doyle took his SPL tally to four, as he headed the opener in Hibernian's 3-0 win against Dundee. The win took Pat Fenlon's side to the top of the table, leaving Dundee rooted to the bottom. Michael Higdon leads the SPL scoring charts with seven goals, but Doyle, Cillian Sheridan (four goals), and Richie Foran (five goals) are not far behind.

Fellow Irishman Aaron Doran scored his first goal of the season on Friday, volleying in with three minutes to go as Inverness Caledonian Thistle won 3-1 against Ross County. Richie Foran was on hand to set up ICT's second, and move to within three points of a European place.

FURTHER AFIELD

Robbie Keane scored his 15th MLS goal of the season, but despite opening the scoring, LA Galaxy slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Real Salt Lake.

Andy O'Brien's Vancouver Whitecaps beat Chivas USA 4-0 on Thursday, while bottom-placed Toronto lost by a single goal to DC United, as Darren O'Dea failed to stop an 88th minute winner.

The A-League kicked off in Australia this week, with Liam Miller picking up a booking and former Ireland under-21 striker Billy Mehmet leaving it late as Perth Glory beat Brisbane Roar 1-0.
