Ahead of the clash with Cork City, the Bit O'Red boss has urged his players to make sure that they finish the league season on a high as the fixtures draw to a close

Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough believes that his side's league form will give his side the confidence to succeed when they travel to Turners Cross to face Cork City this evening, Friday October 5.

The Bit O' Red sit atop the Airtricity Premier Division, enjoying a five point lead and a game in hand over second-placed St Patrick's Athletic and Baraclough admitted that it was not an easy end to the season.

"I think the fact we’ve only lost one game in the league will stand us in good stead and give us confidence," Baraclough told sligorovers.com. "It is not an easy run-in but as I said this is the what you face in trying to get over the line."

He continued: "With the added expectation on us and the television cameras present, I think Cork will try to put on a good performance for their fans and try to finish as high as they can this year.

"They are a good side... They have caused us problems, they’ve added to the squad along the way and they are going to improve."

With the league fixtures drawing to a close, the Sligo boss stressed that despite enjoying a points advantage, it was up to his players to ensure that they clinch the title.

"The lead is now five and six points and results earlier in the week compounds it that the league is far from being over.

"It is up to us to now to make sure we perform on Friday and hopefully take the points we are looking for," concluded the Bit O' Red boss.

Cork City host Sligo Rovers at Turners Cross this evening, Friday October 5. The game is live on Setanta Sports and kicks off at 20.00 BST.
