Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has indicated that the English Premier League champions are excited by their pre-season trip to Limerick.
Roberto Mancini's side are due to play Limerick on Sunday August 5 in a pre-season friendly at Thomond Park and England shot-stopper Hart is looking forward to playing at the ground.
"All the lads at Manchester City are really looking forward to our visit to Ireland," Hart told the Irish Examiner. "Pre-season is where a lot of the hard work is done so this will be a key game in our programme."
He added: "Thomond Park is a really historic stadium and I’m sure the people of Limerick will give us a great greeting for the game."
Just over 20 years ago, former Ireland striker Niall Quinn led Manchester City to victory in a friendly against Limerick at Thomond Park and the upcoming friendly fixture against Manchester City is intended to mark the 75th anniversary celebrations of Limerick Football Club.
Pat Scully's Limerick currently lead the Airtricity First Division as they continue their drive for promotion.
