Red Devils prospect has been included in pre-season squad headed for Asia as Sir Alex Ferguson mulls over his options for the upcoming season

Republic of Ireland under-21 international Robbie Brady has been included in Manchester United’s 22-man squad for their pre-season tour of South Africa and China.

The 20-year-old winger has yet to make his first team debut for the Red Devils but has had a loan spell with Championship side Hull City in the Championship. In all, he featured 39 times for Hull and scored on three occasions last season.

Brady recently signed a new two-year contract at Old Trafford and will be hoping to make the breakthrough this campaign. The busy pre-season schedule provides an ideal opportunity for the Dubliner to force his way into Sir Alex Ferguson’s thoughts.

The tour party is captained by Rio Ferdinand with Nemanja Vidic included as he looks to regain full fitness ahead of the new season, while a number of players miss out due to involvement in Euro 2012 or the upcoming Olympic games.

New signings Nick Powell and Shinji Kagawa will be looking to make an instant impression while want-away striker Dimitar Berbatov is also on the plane.

Brady has won 10 U21 caps and recently won the FAI U21 International Player of the Year award for his efforts as part Noel King’s side.

United’s Reserve Team manager Warren Joyce admitted several of the touring youngsters will be sent out on loan but says the three-week tour will provide the perfect platform for the them to impress on a big stage.

"Robbie [Brady] and Josh [King] will definitely go out on loan again but at this time of year they have the chance to catch the manager's eye," Joyce told the Evening Herald.

He added: "They will get games and they will hope to show the manager how close they are to the first team."

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side kick off their preparations for the new season on Wednesday July 18 when they take on AmaZulu FC in Durban.

Confirmed 22-man squad: Lindegaard, Amos, Johnstone, Ferdinand, Veseli, Vermijl, Wootton, Blackett; Valencia, Anderson, Carrick, Scholes, Powell, Kagawa, Bebe, Tunnicliffe, Lingard, Brady, Petrucci; Berbatov, Chicharito, Macheda.
