Limerick FC have announced that they will play English Premier League champions Manchester City in a friendly at Thomond Park on Sunday, August 5 at 19:00 BST.
City are expected to field a full team against Pat Scully's side with Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and a 'new signing' touted to feature by the organiser of the event, Damien O'Brien of Iconic Worldwide Events.
The game takes place a week before Roberto Mancini's side play Chelsea in the Community Shield.
Pat O'Sullivan, chairman of Limerick FC told the club's official website: "I am very happy that such a big club as Man City has agreed to come to Limerick and I wish to thank Damien O'Brien, the FAI and Thomond Park and all at Man City for their wonderful co-operation in ensuring that this event happens.
"It also shows where local sporting organisations, in this case rugby and soccer when working together can bring massive social and economic benefits to the region and also solidify Thomond Park as a major soccer venue.
"I also hope that the local businesses and communities give their full backing to this major event in view of our status as a city of sport and culture."
Damien O'Brien of Iconic Sports said: "I am personally delighted to be working with Limerick FC and Thomond Park in bringing Manchester City, the current Premier League champions and one of the world's most exciting teams including stars like Mario Balotelli, Samir Nasri, Carlos Tevez, and Sergio Aguero, to Limerick for this fantastic event for all the family.
"The fact that all profits will go back into good causes throughout Limerick and Ireland is an even better reason for all the family to attend this Bank Holiday weekend spectacular. "
