thumbnail Hello,

The Donegal club's secretary issued a warning to fans reported to have directed 'nasty' jibes towards female referee

League of Ireland First Division side Finn Harps have warned fans that sexist jibes directed at a female referee during a recent league game will not be tolerated.

Roscommon referee Rhona Daly officiated the recent First Division game between Finn Harps and Mervue United on Saturday July 7 and received criticism after a penalty was awarded to the Galway side.

However, according to the Irish Examiner, the secretary of the Donegal club took to a social networking website to voice his concern over the alleged comments.

Club secretary John Campbell said that a section of the Finn Harps support had been "nasty and very sexist in their comments".

He added: "These people must realise that this is not tolerated and if reported by the referee or any of the officials and the referees inspector it can and would cost Harps hundreds of euros at a minimum in fines."
