Limerick FC moved a step closer to Premier Division football with a comfortable victory over Mervue United, while Waterford United kept themselves in the chase with a 2-0 win
|Limerick FC 2-0 Mervue United|
|Limerick FC moved within a point of top spot with a deserved victory over Mervue United at Jackman Park.
Mervue were set out defensively and Johnny Glynn's tactics looked to have paid off in the first half despite prolonged spells of pressure from the hosts. The deadlock was finally broken on the hour mark when Denis Behan headed home Stephen Bradley's corner.
Cian Collins ensured the victory for Limerick four minutes from time, giving the home side a 2-0 win.
|SD Galway 0-2 Waterford United|
|Poor defending cost SD Galway dear at Terryland Park, going down by two goals to a hard-working Waterford United side.
The Blues dominated the early stages, with SD Galway having Liam Grant to thank for keeping them in the game. However, they could not hold out under pressure, and scored two goals in quick succession from Gary Dempsey and Ben Ryan. Galway's heads seemed to drop after the first goal, leaving Ryan an easy tap-in for the second.
SD Galway tried to fight their way back into the game, but Waterford were resolute and came out 2-0 victors. They easily could have doubled that score, but the three points take them to third above rivals Wexford.
