Monaghan United appoint Shaun Maher as player/coach

Roddy Collins' side gear up for 2012 Airtricity Premier Division season with veteran acquisition

Shaun Maher has once again linked up with Roddy Collins after signing for Monaghan United as player/coach.

The two were together at Bohemians, winning the 2000-01 league and cup double.

Maher, a 33-year-old central defender, joins Monaghan after playing the 2011 season with Galway United and Limerick FC, featuring infrequently.

He had a six-year spell with Bournemouth from 2001-2007 before returning to the League of Ireland with Drogheda United.

Maher also won the FAI Cup in 2009 with Sporting Fingal.
