Evra has been a 'great figure' at Manchester United - Moyes

The left-back has been at the club for seven years, but the longevity of his stay is in doubt after recent comments to French media that he could leave due to "personal" reasons
David Moyes has described Patrice Evra as a "great figure" at Manchester United in light of recent comments regarding his future at the club.

The left-back, who arrived at Old Trafford from Ligue 1 giants Monaco in January 2006, is out of contract at the end of this season and has been heavily linked with a return to France.

Evra recently dropped the biggest hint yet that he would not renew his contract
, revealing "Manchester United would like me to finish my career there, but this is something personal", and Moyes insists he has a very high opinion of him.

"I don't know how you see Patrice in France but in Manchester we have a very high opinion of him," he is quoted by L'Equipe ahead of his side's Champions League clash with Real Sociedad.

"He has been a great figure in the dressing room since I have been at the club."

Evra made further headines in France after launching a scathing attack on Bixente Lizarazu, describing the former France defender and other detractors as "parasites".

The 32-year-old has since been summoned by the France Football Federation to attend a meeting with Noel Le Graet and Didier Deschamps.
