Extra Time: Lana Del Rey Born to Die for Liverpool after Anfield visit

The singer, who topped the charts in 11 countries last year with her debut album, witnessed the Reds claiming a vital win over Tottenham to keep their top-four hopes alives

Liverpool are one of the best-supported clubs in the world but even the most ardent fan would have been surprised to see superstar singer Lana Del Rey take her seat at Anfield for the Merseysiders' dramatic victory over Tottenham.

The 26-year-old, whose 'Born to Die' album reached No.1 in 11 countries upon its 2012 release, was making her first visit to L4 and witnessed a classic.

The home side came from behind to win 3-2 to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive and possibly stave off 'Summertime Sadness'.

She told reporters: "I was introduced to Liverpool by my manager Ben. Liverpool are my team but I also support Celtic in Scotland, who are my boyfriend Barrie[-James O'Neill]'s team."

You would certainly think that Lana will be feeling a whole lot better than Barrie about this weekend's football, particularly after Celtic's shock 3-2 defeat to Ross County in the Scottish Premier League.

As for Liverpool, the Tottenham win marked the first time Brendan Rodgers' men have succeeded against a fellow club fighting for the top four this season - so perhaps Lana can expect to be asked back to Anfield in the near future.
