Chelsea striker Torres hails boosted confidence

The Spaniard has admitted that it is taking time for the team to adapt to Rafael Benitez's managerial approach, and reveals his delight after finding the net four times this week

Fernando Torres has hailed Chelsea's improving confidence after his double fired the Blues to victory over Premier League strugglers Sunderland.

The Blues suffered from a slump in November that cost Roberto Di Matteo his job and saw Rafael Benitez afforded a frosty welcome to the manager's job.

Torres revealed the team are still adapting to new tactics being implemented by Benitez, but believes things are starting to click again among the players.

Speaking on the Chelsea website, Torres said: "We are playing a bit differently. We don't pass the ball as much as we did before in the final third of the pitch and we try to play more direct, and explode the players forward with Victor Moses or me or Eden Hazard on the left.

"We are using the quality of Oscar or Mata in the middle and we are attacking more and making more chances.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
40/1 Chelsea are 40/1 with William Hill to win the Premier League and FA Cup this season

"We are working as a team, as we did in the beginning of the season with Robbie [Di Matteo], but normally takes some time when a new manager arrives and changes things like this, but the results last Wednesday and on Saturday are going to give us more confidence, the only thing we need now.

"We had a very bad run of results in November and we knew we needed to improve, and we have to support now the manager. It is a difficult situation for him but with the results everything is going to be easier."

After hitting four goals in his last two games, the Spanish striker is keen to continue his scoring ways in upcoming Premier League fixtures.

Torres concluded: "It was a long time for me not scoring in the Premier League but coming after two goals three days before in the Champions League, I am very happy to get back to scoring, especially as the team starts winning."
