Ba happy at Newcastle despite Chelsea rumours

The striker, who has a reportedly £7 million buy-out clause in a his contract, has attracted interest from a number of clubs after notching 16 goals for his side this season

Demba Ba has insisted that he is happy at Newcastle despite rumours linking him with a move elsewhere.

After scoring 16 league goals already this season and with a reported buyout clause in his contract of around £7 million, many clubs have been reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

In particular, the Senegalese striker has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Chelsea’s Didier Drogba, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However Ba has waved away any speculation, claiming he is happy to stay at Newcastle.

"It's rumours - you get them in football,” he told Sky Sports.

"I am happy with Newcastle and I enjoy being here and playing for the Toon Army. I enjoy being in this team.

"We have a good team spirit and I love the North East, where I have my country-mate, Papiss Cisse."

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Ba’s team-mate at Newcastle Cheick Tiote, who is thought to be a considered a replacement for Michael Essien.
