“It will be very nice to be able to work beside him,” Rodriguez said of Neymar. “I know I'll mature even more [as a player]. I really admire him. He is surely is among the five best players in the world.”
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder joined the club from Independiente in Argentina last month, and made the dream start to life in Brazilian football by netting a debut goal in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Atletico Goianiense.
With his new team-mates set to return from an Olympic campaign that ultimately ended with a silver medal in London, Patito spoke of his excitement at the return of the club's star players from international duty and admitted he jumped at the chance of a move to the Peixe.
“Santos Football Club is a team for whom I have great admiration,” he said. “[To play] alongside Neymar and Ganso was a dream for me. I did not think twice when I accepted [the club’s proposal].”
Santos continue their Brasileirao campaign with a trip to Figueirense on Friday night.
