Tresor Mputu all-time top scorer in Caf club competitions
The DR Congo international now has the distinction of being the player with most goals scored in continental club football
TP Mazembe striker Tresor Mputu has beaten the record formerly held by legendary Egyptian Mahmoud Al-Khatib as the all-time top scorer in African club competitions.Mputu’s double in Mazembe’s 2-2 draw with Ghanaian club Berekum Chelsea in the 2012 Caf Champions League Group B clash on Sunday in Lubumbashi saw him reach 41 goals.
The DR Congo striker has been amongst the best on the continent for many years, and will now go down in history for his goal-scoring prowess with the Corbeaux.
Mputu is seeking individual redemption after his 12-month suspension following his attack on a referee, and his continued exploits in front of goal may present the last chance for the 26-year-old who was once an Arsenal target to entice European scouts.
